The answer is what I expect to put in the first issue of the Pliant journal.
Loic, could your ASPIC 2001 presentation could be used as a start point ? |

All Rigth
Il will write a set of articles about how to build an Intranet with Pliant.
For the first issue of Pliant Journal, I can explain how to install and configure Pliant services such as: - Server management - User management - Web site management - Mail management
After this first step "Installation and Configuration" we could start to explain how to build the Intranet web site interface with some samples of .page script, to show how to use and build pliant services. |

Not all at once.
I believe that detailed step by step setting an HTTP server, with a trivial demonstration database (maybe handling a single bank account or something like that) would be enough for issue 1. It should also probably assume that Pliant has been properly installed (unckacked, then install script properly run)
Maybe DNS for issue 2, and mail for issue 3 (requires DNS).
Please also do not include any information on how to define or extend styles since it will change at a later point.

If you lack time, or the issue 1 is too long (it should really be step by step with clear explainations) or two complex, you can also split it as: issue 1: setting the HTTP server and servicing static pages issue 2: writting tiny dynamic pages issue 3: handling a tiny database
Your choice. |

You should also contact Michel for some specific problems under Windows (DNS setings, ...) |

At the present time I manage two intranet under Win98 OS. First with 3 machines at home, second with 11 machines in My association. They work with HTTP servers, FTP servers and Name (DNS) server, it relatively easy to do when tou know. Rogerio please tell us what is the configuration of your future server in term of disks or partitions, and what is ypur goal : what type of server, one or several site on your server and so on ? I think that together we can help you. Michel |

My server have two particions, 4G and 6G, i build a system in pliant, just one site, that control an Industry. I want just that that two computers use the site in my server, I dont want to exchange files between the comupters.
Thats the goal:
I run the server with just one site called ALLI And my friend type ALLI in his browser, and he access to ALLI site and control everything, insert datas, delete datas, search something ...
The site is already Ok, all build in Pliant. I dont know if I have to use netcard, how can I config the name of site, because this computers is already in a intranet, linked with internet.
I dont know what the DNS server does, I have just worked with HTTP server
What I have to do first ? Please step by step, I have some dificults with configurations.
Thanks. |

Ok Rugiero we"ll go step by step. The first step, perhaps the more delicate, is the windows configuration. I'm sory but I still have a lot of question: What type of internet-link have ypou ? by phone cable or direct link? Have you a provider ? Is the machine connected to internet the same wich will be the pliant server ? Must the two other machines access to internet and if yes, is it through a proxy server or by the connection sharing of Microsoft. Have you configure your netcards for tcp/ip ? have you given IP for the 3 machines. Have you the same domain name for the three computers and a machine name for each of them? If yes please give me them, it will be easier for the future. Where have you install pliant on your machine ? partition C or D ? If not install it at the root of D.
After that I think yhat we can begin to start .
