|ASP is a poor scripting language on top of an HTTP server.
Just try to implement a true first class software such as a database engine
or a graphical library in ASP, and it should become very clear that ASP is not
a true language.
On the other hand, Pliant is a truely very powefull first class language, so
your Pliant code can do basic entry level things such as ASP scripts, but can
also do advanced computing when your application is getting more complicated.
With ASP, you would have to switch to calling DLLs written in C++ or something
like that to get the true computation done; with Pliant, you can keep the
same language because it scales well.
On the other hand ASP is the mainstream, so many people will prefer it
because they are afraid leaving the mainstream, or because they need
easy interface with other mainstream applications.
