Questions about console

|You answered already that the console reading functions won't be improved,
since the goal is to use DOM (you can answer here too what's DOM). That's OK,
maybe i will ask it about later. My question now is that if it is possible
to use colors when writing to console. I can imagine it's not possible, however
in linux world it's quite common. I use pliant on windows, so i would like to
know the current possibilities of using colors, and about the plans.

|DOM is what enables to dynamically modify the content of an HTML page
without reloading the all thing.
Now, I don't see an extended text mode interface as a bad thing.
I simply say that the very basic one provided is expected to remain so
because there are places where one need very simple things and
Pliant core applications don't need more since the high end interface
is (or will be at some point) the web.
The good idea would be at some point to get a contribution of a high end
text mode interface, but the major chalenge is that it has to work
exactly the same way on Unix and Windows.
Meaning that I don't want to extend one part of Pliant myself does not
mean that it's a bad idea. Simply I'm the maintainer of the core part, and
I need very stable software, so I put in the core part only what I'm
mastering and actively maintaining.
Also, having extensions that are not part of the core project, so are
maintained by different persons is something that we will have anyway at
some time. Patrice already has a set of very interesting things.
What's planned is that these extensions will be outside /pliant/ subtree
where all (nearly all) the core part is, and the pliant.cx web server
will be extended in order to package all these properly and automatically
so that developpers can know what exists and pick extactly what they need
Now, back to the console interface, I'd go as far as saying that if you
write an extended interface, I'll try if not too hard to change the very
basic one in the core part of Pliant so that it get's a subset of the
extended one from the external point of view, so that applications can

|This isn't a question, just a comment about using colors. Since my telnet code
handles colors perfectly on linux, and also on windows with a condition, i
think this issue isn't that important.
To use colors on windows, have to use the ansi.sys driver, and it must be
started in config.sys (at least in win98 and earlier). Not sure how it can be
use in later windows.
