Links containing Username/Password

|Is it possible to detect, if a page is accessed with username:password@
in the url? I want to forward such urls to the same page, but without
the password shown in the url.

|In a dynamic page, 'user_name' is the name of the authentificated user.
The is no 'password' function because there is not always such a thing:
when a user connects through the strong crypto proxy, no password is sent.
Also, if the 'user_name' variable is not empty, then you are granted that
the user passed the built in access check of the HTTP server.

|My problem is to check wether the user passed the check by
- clicking the login button, and answering the login dialogue, or by
- accessing the page through a password link, e.g.
In the latter case I'd like to redirect to just plain
http://helio.pliant.cx/ so the user/password aren't instantly visible
on the browsers addressbar.

|If I redirect to the page without the user and password in the
URL, I will lose the user name, because HTTP is session less.
When you authenticate using the browser popup window, the user and
password is the send with all requests.
